Colorado Privacy Act
A Colorado consumer-privacy law (SB21-190), signed on 7 July 2021 and in force since 1 July 2023. Businesses must get a person's opt-in consent before processing “sensitive data”.
An amendment, HB24-1058, in force since 7 August 2024, added biological data to that category, including neural data: measured activity of a person's nervous system. Only the Colorado Attorney General and district attorneys can enforce the Act.
Related terms: cognitive liberty, neuro-forensics, brain–computer interface
